Drs. Eric Helland and Alexander Tabarrok created a exhaustive study of Public sector vs the Private sector pretrial release as it relates to the offenders released on various types of bail. The study Public vs Private Law Enforcement Evidence from Bail Jumping is a great data source. Dr. Helland is a Professor of Economics at Claremont McKenna College in California. Dr. Tabarrok is an Associate Professor of Economics at George Mason University.

Dr. Michael K. Block, Ph.D has written a very extensive study of the Effectiveness and Cost of Secured and Unsecured Pretrial Release. Dr. Michael K. Block, Ph.D, is a Professor of Economics and Law at the University of Arizona. He has also published on the topic in 1995, 1997, and 2000.
